Weekly Round Up: St Vincent, The Bird & The Bee, Coldplay & Haim

St Vincent released a clip for her newbie 'Digital Witness'
I don't know what the fudge is going on but it makes for good entertainment so watch it anyway. The scene is set in some oddly synchronised futuristic dystopia. It's a colourful communist Russia.
As good as the clip is, it's Annie Clark's hair that steals the show.

If you are interested in listening to the new eponymous album from St Vincent, here it is to stream:

As an unnecessary follow up to the 1981 film Endless Love, the Warner studio has made... Endless Love. It looks friggin terrible. Ergh. BUT the soundtrack is proving worth a listen, as long as you can forgive for the omittance of the iconic theme song.

Duo Inara George and producer Greg Kurstin make up The Bird & The Bee. Their song All Our Endless Love features the ethereal baritones of Matt Berninger from The National. The ballad contrasts Berninger's deep vocals with sweet piano harmonies.

What do you prefer? The new edition to the franchise... Or the classic?

Lionel Richie and Diana Ross - Endless Love

After all, friends listen to Endless Love in the dark. =)

Coldplay are back with a new single which is receiving a lot of criticism, both good and bad. Mainly due to it's obvious influence from Bon Iver. I think the song is great, even though listening to it you forget who it is. While there are merits to trying something new and different, I don't think you should completely abandon your own signature sound. AND I think the clip is trying a little too hard. See for yourself.

Coldplay - 'Midnight'

The Haim sisters new retro style clip is pretty fantastic. It is quite a new direction for the trio, complete with choreographed dance sequences and shadowed power poses a la Charlie's Angels. I have loved every single clip these three have given us thus far and this one doesn't disappoint. It gives them an unnecessary popstar edge that i guess may open up more commercial opportunities for them in the future. It is hard to tell if they are doing it in a strictly satirical way or just having a bit of fun. Meh, it works either way.
The album Days Are Gone is one of my favorite releases from 2013 and keeps spitting out one hit single after another.
