Weekly Round Up: A$AP Rocky, Miley, Foals & Jake Bugg

Miley's released her new clip for 23... seemingly an ode to Michael Jordan but in actual fact it's just another opportunity for the ex-Hannah Montana star to frolic around in a skanked out basketball singlet and poke her tongue out in the least sexiest way possible.

The single features rappers Wiz Khalifa and Juicy J of 3 Six Mafia along with her current  rumoured squeeze Mike Will Made It, but unfortunately it's gunna take more than their combined star power to make this track any good. Apart from the fact I resent the blasphemous Jordan references (which for me is enough to hate the single altogether) it's not particularly catchy and features lyrics such as:
"Put on my J's and dance the whole night away
I’m naughty by nature like I’m hip-hop hooray"

MGMT have released a beautifully haunting clip for 'Cool Song No.2'. The psychedelic track is paired with the visual of Michael K. Williams seeking revenge on a butt-load of people for turning his boyfriend into a tree. Sounds wacky but it works. On a deeper level the video is a portrayal of the inner turmoil suffered by those caring for a sick loved one. The scenes where Michael is gently cleaning and tending to his afflicted partner are juxtaposed against scenes of intense violence.

The Video was written and directed by Isiah Seret and more details on the clip itself can be found here: http://isaiahseret.com/MGMT-COOL-SONG-No-2

Foals have now released five videos from their latest album Holy Fire. The latest is for Out Of The Woods. The clip features a heroin-chic girl suffering from paranoia and terrifying hallucinations. Another definite hit for Yannis and his boys. I particularly love how the song ends, the fading melody and the lyrics "Time keeps ticking, time keeps pushing, time keeps rolling along".

Our favourite rapper from Harlem's A$AP Mob is back with the forth single from his album Long.Live.A$AP. A$AP Rocky's clip for Fashion Killa features Barbadian beauty Rihanna (with her current mullet in tow) and appears to be sponsered by Supreme Clothing. Content-wise the lyrics are basically a list of who's who in the fashion world at the moment... Isobel Marent, Dior and Prada among others.
The video also features an appearance by A$AP Ferg who raps a section of his Murda Something song from his 2013 debut Trap Lord. I appreciate Rocky remembering his Harlem roots and supporting his fellow A$AP-ers by allowing them to promo themselves in his clips. What a bro.

As much as I loved Iggy Azealia and Rocky as a couple... RiRi and the Rocksta def have chemistry, check it out below.

Jake Bugg is already on to his second album (really makes you examine how you've spent the last 11 months doesnt it?). Shangri La is set for release on November 18th and is produced by Rick Ruben. 19 year old Bugg finds his garage rock sound in his latest What Doesn’t Kill You, and can I say he is sounding very Gallagher (Noel or Liam, take your pick). It's nice to see the young crooner breaking away from his own status quo so early in his career. His debut eponymous album was only released in 2012 and is nominated for the Mercury Prize for Album Of The Year.

The video features a snippet from an interview in it's intro explaining the themes behind the track.
