Katy Perry Plagarism Woes

Miss Katy Perry isn't having the best week.
She released a lyric video for her track Roar from her new album of the same name and has copped some hate from the inter-webs claiming her new song sounds a lot like Brave by Sara Bareilles. See her take emoji's and texting to the next level with her lyric vid below:

Perhaps I am jumping on the Katy bandwagon prematurely but while I do notice similarities between Roar and Brave, they are both just generic pop songs. Beats, bass and bridges can often mimic each other in this crazy music world of ours. As French author Andre Gide said "Everything has been said before, but since nobody listens we have to keep going back and beginning all over again." And chances are he wasn't the first person to say so. It's just unfortunate that these two songs are out at the same time.

In a second plagiarism accusation, US producer Dillon Fancis claims that the above lyric vid is a rip off of his clip for Messages
Okay for starters, Katy's is just a lyric clip, its not her official one for the song so everyone needs to calm the fuck down. Secondly, using the iPhone messages to display lyrics is hardly the most original idea anyway.

Dillion Francis - Messages

Australian band San Cisco used a similar concept in their video for Awkward last year. A song that by far trumps any of the ones mentioned above.

San Cisco - Awkward

In summation, get over it.

On that note I'm going to leave you with a super blatant, undeniable piece of brilliant plagiarism in Beyonce's Countdown clip Vs Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, a Belgium choreographer.

Meh! Countdown is still bitchin'.
